Antennas

Antennas receive or transmit small invisible signals from the air we call radio waves. Similar to a kite or boat sail which quickly puffs up and is ready to serve when hit by a small breeze, a properly designed antenna responds efficiently to small radio waves with a mechanism called resonance. The tuned(resonant) antenna effectively puffs up with radio wave energy allowing for efficient reception or transmission enabling the wireless communication which we very often taken for granted. The physics are definitely different comparing kites to antennas, but if either is poorly executed, the customer will simply not be delighted. A well-executed antenna works well for all customer use cases. Understanding how a handheld device may ultimately be held in the user’s hand or mounted in an accessory or cradle is important to selecting an appropriate antenna and integrating into the product. At PGW, we love antennas and we love seeing them, but we also understand many brands and consumers do not share our appreciation and would prefer to not see or even think about the antenna.
